With miles of hiking/waking/biking trails, Isle Au Haut offers stunning scenery through moss-covered woods and uninterrupted views of the ocean and rugged coast. While lacking the elevation changes of Mount Desert Island, Isle Au Haut makes up for it with gorgeous, unspoiled, and tranquil scenery. Take the mail boat from Stonington and make this a day or partial day trip.

Nervous Nellie's Jams & Jellies: A combination Jam & Chutney shop and outdoor sculpture park, Nervous Nellies is a Deer Isle gem. Explore the plethora of Peter Beerits' unique sculptural installations around Nellieville, and then stop by the Jam shop for samples and to purchase a jar (or 10) of delicious jam or chutney. Nervous Nellie's is a must if you're on the island, and changes each time you visit as Peter keeps creating new sculptures and installations.

Acadia House Provisions: Acadia House is an extension of the Chicago restaurant Acadia, by two Michelin Starred chef Ryan McCaskey. Opened in the former Aragosta space in downtown Stonington, this farm to table restaurant is sure to make a splash. McCaskey, who owns a summer home on the island, has wanted to open a restaurant on the island for some time.
